New mapa Streets of Tarkov

The city of Tarkov is located in northwest Russia and is a part of the Norvinsk Region. It has a population of nearly one million people and is located on the right bank of the Gulf of Finland, in the south of the Karelian Isthmus. The city was once an actively developing area, with large instrumentation and electronic defense companies built there in the mid-sixties of the 20th century. These companies served as the basis for the development of ZATO (closed administrative-territorial formation). The ZATO status was lifted in 1994.

In recent years, Tarkov has become the center of the development of the special economic zone in Norvinsk region, due to its location and international investment. One of the main investors in Tarkov is TerraGroup, a biotechnology R&D company with offices in 18 countries around the world. However, it has interests beyond biotechnology and has a significant presence in Tarkov and the Norvinsk region, with its main office, laboratories, and workshops of industrial enterprises located in the city. In addition, Tarkov is home to a branch of the USEC private military company, which is hired by TerraGroup for security.

However, a corruption scandal involving TerraGroup led to a situation in which the company’s management ordered USEC operators to prevent even government and law enforcement officials from accessing their facilities. As a result, PMC operatives were sent to the city to defend the property of TerraGroup. A newly created PMC called BEAR, rumored to have the direct protection of the Russian authorities, was also sent to the city to counter the USEC PMCs. The two PMCs engaged in active fighting using all kinds of weaponry.

During this time, the population of Tarkov was actively evacuated by the city’s own resources, as well as with the help of the Russian Armed Forces and the UN peacekeeping contingent. The chaos that ensued caused the city to remain frozen in the state in which its inhabitants left it, and only marginalized and criminal elements remained in the city. Tarkov was cordoned off, and it became impossible to enter or leave the city. Many BEAR and USEC operatives lost contact with their command and were forced to find their own way out of Tarkov.

This update adds a part of the city of Tarkov, located at the intersection of Primorsky Avenue and Klimov Street. This part of the city includes an abandoned factory, Pinewood Hotel, news agency building, Concordia residential complex, car dealership, Terracot Business Center, cinema, Sparzha supermarket, and other objects of urban infrastructure. This is the first part of the work on the city, and the location will be expanded in the future.

  • Other new equipment has also been added.

Five new stimulants

  • Obdolbos 2 is a syringe with a homemade drug developed by Sanitar, a new version of an old classic.
  • SJ12 TGLabs was developed for the operatives of special units and slows down some functions of the body while increasing perception.
  • Perfotoran (Blue Blood) is a blood substitute with the function of oxygen transfer, used as a powerful antidote for toxins, poisons, and radiation damage.
  • Trimadol is an opioid synthetic analgesic developed for special forces operatives that increases combat characteristics but can lead to exhaustion after the effects wear off.
  • PNB (Product 16) is a combat stimulant developed by TerraGroup Labs that allows a short-term activation of inner muscles, reducing received damage and accelerating tissue regeneration. It is allowed for use by special forces but has some side effects.

New Skills

  • Two new skills have been added: Light Armor and Heavy Armor. The Light Armor skill reduces the penalty to mobility, wear of armor when repairing, and damage from melee weapons when struck in the armor. The Heavy Armor skill reduces the penalty to mobility, blunt damage to parts covered by the armor, and wear of armor when repairing.
  • The Charisma skill has been reworked and its progression now affects the price of insurance, paid extracts, replacement of operational tasks, price of the Scav Box, and Therapist’s healing services.

Repair kits and enhancements

It is now possible to enhance weapons, body armor, and plate carriers when repairing them with repair kits. The ability to enhance items becomes available at level 10 of the corresponding skill (Weapon Maintenance for weapons, Light Armor and Heavy Armor for armor). Rare enhancements can only be applied at the elite level of the corresponding skill. The chance and strength of a standard enhancement depend on the level of the corresponding skill. The enhancement reduces the damage received by body armor and plate carriers. Weapons can have two types of enhancements at the same time, decreasing malfunction chance and increasing accuracy. The enhancement is effective within a certain range of the item’s technical condition and will be removed during subsequent repairs. The enhancement and its value affect the item’s selling price, insurance, and Flea Market fee. The Intelligence skill now affects the amount of repair points used during repairs. The value of the removed max durability of an item during repair depends on the corresponding skill (Weapon Maintenance for weapons, Light Armor and Heavy Armor for armor, and Intelligence for other items with durability points).

Hidout new levels

Two new levels of upgrades have been added to the shooting range. These upgrades allow the player to set up various shooting targets, including moving targets, and use a training program to improve shooting accuracy.

Graphics and sound

Several updates have been made to the graphics and sound of the game. These include the addition of FSR 2.1, a picture scaling technology developed by AMD that improves the display of lower resolution images on higher quality monitors, as well as optimizations to the draw distance of different types of glass, the rendering of decals, and the rendering of trees at long distances.

The sound positioning system in the game has been updated to Oculus Audio, replacing Steam Audio. This change will be noticeable regardless of whether binaural audio is enabled, but binaural audio is recommended for the best experience. The new sound positioning system takes into account more conditions to accurately portray sound in relation to the player’s position, and is currently available on the Factory, Customs, Woods, and Streets of Tarkov maps. The quality of sound positioning on other maps will be improved in future updates.

Besides all of these changes we have a big list of fixes. You can see the Escape From Tarkov 0.13 Patch Notes full list here.
